We leave from the Sint-Antoniushoeve to the “Schoorbakkebrug”. We follow the twists and turns of the Yser. The hamlet of Tervate is located where the river makes a big bend. Thirsty or hungry? Try boutique cafe ‘t zoetebekje. Through the nature reserve ” The Viconia Clay Pits” we scoot to Stuivekenskerke and from there to Oud-Stuivekenskerke. We continue our way, across the bridge, into the field road. The carcasses of the two petroleum tanks come into view. We pass the Trench of Death or “Boyau de la Mort “, a complex of preserved trenches from the First World War. We continue our scooter quietly and enjoyably through this charming part of Westhoek aka Bachten de Kupe. The green meadows with grazing cows provide a nostalgic feeling. We can now visit Diksmuide. The Yser Tower , with its 84m height, this monument is the tallest peace monument in Europe. We now follow the quiet country roads to Sint-Jacobskapelle, Nieuwkapelle, Lampernisse and Zoutenaaie. At the Oude Zeedijkmolen in Avekapelle we take the towpath to Booitshoeke and from there back home: ‘t Antoontje is in sight !!!
